RESIDENTIAL SETTINGS
"My
autistic son has been at Ferncroft (one of OVRS' many residential
facilities) for 24 years. And there's not a day goes by that I don't
thank God for the caring people who work with/for Bill. He is very
happy there and considers it his home."
--- Alice Cook
"My
daughter, Karen, came under the care of Ohio Valley Residential Services
in 1997. Since then, she has been cared for in a group home where she
now has her own very nice, safe, comfortable room in a neat, clean,
spacious house. All of the residents of this home enjoy similar living
quarters and tasty, home-cooked food.
In
addition to her physical care, Karen also enjoys the homelike, friendly
environment fostered by the staff. This results in the feeling of a
large, friendly family; not at all like an institution. Karen is quite
happy and she obviously considers herself to be a member of the new
family.
… I
can say, without reservations, that the service and support that my
daughter has received from OVRS have far exceeded my expectations."

"As
the father of two sons in the Ohio Valley Residential Services system, I
would just like you to know how much I appreciate the wonderful care
they are given by your staff and employees. For many years my biggest
worry was what would happen to my sons when I was gone. That fear and
burden has been lifted from my shoulders due to the caring wonderful
employees of OVRS.
I know when I am gone my sons will be in good hands as they are right
now.
Keep up the great job everyone at OVRS is doing."

INDIVIDUALS in FOSTER SETTINGS

like living in foster care because I can get along well with my foster

with friends and I get to make my own decisions mostly all the time."

like foster care because my foster mom treats me nice and she takes me
places and she cooks good food and she don’t yell at me."

FOSTER PROVIDERS
Donna M.
"We
all need help, some of us more than others. Many people give back in
many ways, this is my way of giving back. I love helping others and in
helping those who I have welcomed into my home, I have learned many
things about myself and people in general. The job can be challenging,
but as people we are all a challenge to someone at some point. So, if
you have the opportunity to interact with any of these truly wonderful
people, take advantage of it. You never know, you may just be helping
yourself."
Helen W.
"I
became interested in being a foster provider in 1996. I find the service
that I give very rewarding to the clients as well as myself."
Dwight and Bobbie M.
"Mike is like our true son. We have a large family and Mike loves to be
part of our family. We are blessed to have him in our lives."
Gwen M. W.
"Foster care means love and commitment. You have to have love for the
people put in your care and a commitment to stick with them, no matter
what…. If they want to stay, no matter what the problem is I am
committed to work with them to help them live a more fulfilling and
independent life. "
